Hilton Cleveland Hotel & Convention Center

The Hilton Cleveland Hotel and Convention Center is 32 floors tall, with floors 7 through 32 housing guest rooms. The building has two large core walls that reach the full height of the hotel; these are the main supports for the entire center. Whitacre Rebar was a crucial part of constructing post-tensioned slabs to make the hotel stable.

The Innerbelt Bridge in Cleveland

Whitacre Rebar was one of the main suppliers on the Innerbelt Bridge in Cleveland, Ohio. This truss arch bridge allows Interstate 90/Innerbelt Freeway to cross the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland. In November 2008, inspectors used computer analysis to find that the bridge was structurally unsafe. In 2010, we and other team members contracted to reconstruct the bridge.

Society (Key) Tower

From the base to the tallest tip, Society (Key) Tower in Cleveland, Ohio reaches 947 feet. The 57-foot skyscraper was the tallest structure between Manhattan and Chicago when it was built and the largest project Whitacre Rebar had ever accepted. The massive structure, which was designed by Skilling Ward Magnusson Barkshire, took 1,300 tons of rebar and 1.4 million square feet of mesh to complete.

Poughkeepsie Water Treatment Facility

The Poughkeepsie Water Treatment Facility in New York, which serves nearly 80,000 people, required a major upgrade to increase the city’s clean water supply. The new structure treats water from the Hudson River and infuses it with ozone to produce safe drinking water. With over 20-foot tall exterior walls and a maze of interior walls, the treatment facility required 365 tons of rebar.
